Dixie Fry Original Recipe Coating Mix

For a couple of days now, I have been craving fried chicken. I’m not a big fan of KFC or fast food, and I didn’t want to make deep-fried food either. I wanted good old-fashioned home-made fried chicken.

When I went to the store to buy the fresh chicken, I discovered a product for making fried chicken. It’s Dixie Fry Original Recipe Coating Mix. It only takes five minutes to prepare, and 45 minutes to bake in the oven. So, I thought I’d give it a try.

The chicken parts I used are the boneless thighs and breast with the skin. Let me tell you, this chicken recipe is so delicious, it is finger licking good !

If you like fried chicken and you want an easy, quick and inexpensive way to make it, I highly recommend trying out this product.

Yummy Banana Bread

I enjoy cooking, but I love baking. There’s a blog that I follow, Stovetop Story that has some awesome recipes. I know because I have cooked and baked some of the recipes posted on this wonderful blog.

Today I made Stovetop’s banana bread. The only problem with making this delicious bread is it did not last 24 hours in our home.

New York Pizza Made in California

Our Homemade Pizza Pie

Who doesn’t love pizza. In fact, I don’t think I know one person that says they hate pizza. It’s been a staple in my family and my husband’s family all our life.

My husband is from New York, so he knows that the best pizza comes from New York. We have been searching for good pizza in Southern California for the past 23 years. It’s mission impossible when it comes to good pizza made in California. I’ve been telling my husband that the reason is the water. California water is so horrible compared with New York’s water. That’s the only ingredient that is missing from California pizza. But, he never believed me until we were at Cortina’s and an Italian women from New York City agreed with me about my water theory.

We decided to try our hand at home made pizza. I made the crust from scratch; I bought fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh homemade sauce. We cooked it at 500 degrees on our grill. I thought it tasted pretty good. My husband said it was good, but it still didn’t taste like New York pizza. He agreed with me that it must be the New York water that makes “real” New York pizza so delicious.

Our next attempt at pizza will be using New York water. We just haven’t figured out how our New York City friends can send us some New York tap water. When we do figure out how to get the water, we’ll have the best “real” New York pizza made in California.

Dinner is Served

My husband and I love great food. We would much rather cook something great ourselves, then go to a mediocre restaurant.

We enjoy watching the “Cooking” and “Food Network” channels. Mostly because we have found our best recipes by watching some of these shows.

Being a connoisseur of art and food, I enjoy making new recipes because of the creative aspect of cooking. It’s the only art form you can eat your way through.

Trying new recipes every week has been a great deal of fun. Eating great food is one of lifes little pleasures. A pleasure I truly do enjoy for myself. But mostly I enjoy cooking for my husband.

Got to run. My pork chops are done grilling, and dinner is served.
