Seal Day 2015

has as much right
to be here as you and me.”

Seal Day

Plan to attend this fundraiser tomorrow with all my donations from their “Wish List”. Hopefully, we won’t be rained out and I’ll have some great photos to share on my post tomorrow.

Summer in Redondo

“Summer means happy times and good sunshine.
It means going to the beach,
going to Disneyland, having fun.”
Brian Wilson

Summer in Redondo

You know it’s summer when droves of young people arrive on the beaches of Redondo. Every summer The City of Redondo Beach holds a swimming camp at the beach for 12-15 year olds. These young people go through a rigorous swim training program that a professional lifeguard would be proud of.

It’s fun to watch these energetic young people go through all the drills their trainers put them through during summer in Redondo.

Seal of Approval

“Only we humans make waste that nature can’t digest.”

Seal of Approval

Theres a non-profit organization in San Pedro, California that does some amazing work. The Marine Mammal Care Center is a hospital for ill, injured and orphaned marine mammals. Their primary work is the treatment and release of rescued seals & sea lions.

I’ve been following this organization for the last year. I learned about them when our local news did a story about the record number of sea lion babies being rescued along the Southern California coastlines this year.

This organization along with all its volunteers and employees do amazing work throughout the year. It’s been great fun to watch through their Facebook page all the progress they have made with their efforts.

Kudos to everyone connected with The Marine Mammal Care Center . They get my seal of approval.

This is Not Pretty

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.”
Coco Chanel

This is Not Pretty

Let’s face it, I’m not exactly a fashionista. There was a time in my life when I was decked out daily in the current fashions. I’d peruse Vogue magazine for fabulous dresses, then sew my own creations.

I haven’t picked up an issue of Vogue in years. Mostly because I’m retired and not concerned about fashion.

The other day I found myself skimming through the April issue of Vogue. There were a few interesting articles, but then I began to notice how utterly ugly some of the so called “fashionable dresses” looked.

Come on Vogue, you can’t be serious with this model in this photo? In my opinion, this is not pretty.
